My Favorite Place

I love zoos, any kind of zoo.  They just make me happy.  My sweet husband, who really dislikes the zoo, takes me pretty much anytime we are close to one.  I could spend hours and hours there and never get bored.  It is harder to stay as long as I would like with two little people that have their own ideas, but I still get to go and that is all that matters.  D likes to go but really just wanted to see the snakes and G is still too little to have a opinion.

When we got to the zoo, we found out they had 2 baby elephants.  One is a boy and one is a girl and they were born like 2 months apart.  I was excited to see them.

This squirrel was outside of one of the stores and he came like right up to us.  He wanted G's graham cracker.
 Watching him really close.
 A big old alligator.

This is the first time we have ever fed the birds and D really liked it.

Great Wolf 2013

We try to make a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine at least once a summer.  We went this summer in August after most of the state started school.  We had a great time getting to be together as a family, just the 4 of us.  D still loves the water and I think he always will. G was still a little unsure of things but I don't know if it was the noise of the fountains and things or the actual water.  I think it was more about being in a strange place with new sounds but I am just not sure.  Either way we had a good time.  D went down some of the bigger slides and enjoyed them.  He also found the deeper pools and was happy to float around in them with his life jacket on.  He is getting so big and I think everyday about he is growing way to fast.  I guess that is what kids do but I wish I could slow him down a little most days, although there days I wish that he was a little more grown up.  I have some videos that I will try to get up in the next few days.  We love the great wolf and D asks all the time when we get to go back.  I am thankful that this is something we have to opportunity to go.

There is a pizza place that we all love in Grapevine so we have to make sure we get pizza a couple of times while we are there.

Daddy and D spend lots of time playing the Magic Quest game.  D usually gives up and leaves daddy alone at some point though.

G wanted to be touching one of us at all times.

 Playing basketball

G's favorite thing was the elevator.

 Big slides

We also had to play a few video games.

Just a look

This is what lots of my days are like:

I love these boys!!!
If you watch you might be able to tell the G only dances to certain songs and he pushes the button over and over until he gets the one he wants.

Halloween in the big D

I took the boys around our little town on Halloween and we actually went to 4 houses.  That is more than we have ever been to before and I had someone else ask me why I didn't come to their house so I will have to add at least one more to the list for next year.  I pulled them around in the wagon and it was not as easy as I thought it would be when I left and I was ready to come home.

 G is getting very sleepy.

This is one reason I knew it was time to head home.  D had too much sugar for sure.

I need to get over it

Tonight I am having a pity party and I need to get over it.  Some days life just seems overwhelming, you know?  It seems no matter how many dishes I wash, there are always more, no matter how many toys I pick up, there are more, no matter how much laundry I do, the baskets are never empty and the list could go on and on.  I guess there are just times that I feel like I am not being the best I could be but at the same time I feel like I have no more to give.  I worry I am not teaching my boys the things they need to know because no matter how many times I explain manners to my 4 year old I always have to say it again.  I worry they will be the kids no one likes because they are crazy all the time.  I know deep down that they will be okay it just seems like some things never sink in.  It makes me think some of it is sinking when I here D say things to other people like please and thank you but there is always another child who acts better than yours.  How do those parents do it?  I want people to want to be around my kids not run the other way when they see them coming and I am afraid I am not teaching them to be those kids.  Like I said, I need to get over it.

Then there are times when the older one isn't sitting on the little one and the little one isn't spitting at the older one when it seems like life will all be okay.  I just need to focus on those times.

Happy Halloween

Things around here have been crazy for the last month or so.  I can't count how many times I have taken the boys to the doctor.  It has been nuts.  We have been really lucky because our kids haven't been sick a whole lot.  I knew that would change when D started school and was around other kids more so I was kind of prepared.  I am sure it hasn't helped that I have been just as sick as they have been.  We finally found out ,by doing x-rays, that they both have sinus infections so maybe we will finally get rid of this mess.  Anyway there are lots of things I have to put up on this little blog of mine, including our summer vacation, hopefully I start getting caught up.

For now here are some pictures from our Halloween activities.  We went to the Fort Worth Zoo for Boo at the Zoo and then went to my sisters church for trunk or treat.

The zoo was really busy and you can tell we were all really excited to be there.  It cleared out after a little bit and we had a lot more fun.

They had games set up for the kids to play and they really enjoyed that part.

These are from trunk or treat.
My little owl.
Of course D wanted to be a monster truck driver.  He chose Mohawk Warrior.

Everyone wanted to try on D's helmet.

I do have pictures that I took on Halloween that I will try to get up soon. D did a little program at his school that I have a video of so I will try to do that also.  That is my goal anyway.  We will see if it actually happens.
