His Eyes

It just blows my mind that his eyes are so blue.  He is just so happy all the time.   I am not ready for him to be 1 in a week.  He needs to slow down.

He Still Doesn't Like the Penguin

I thought that G might have grown out of this but I guess not.  He still doesn't know why we want him to touch that penguin.  D put it in his bed with him the other day and he almost had a heart attack.  We took it out really fast.  The penguin has since been deflated and removed from the house.

One Week After the Blizzard

I took these pictures pretty close to a week after the blizzard.  I think it was actually like 6 days, but it was pretty close.  The day after I took these it finally got warm enough to melt all of it.  This snow was only left in the shade and where it was the deepest in the yard.  I am pretty sure we haven't had snow that has been around for a week since I have lived here.   D wishes that we could have snow everyday.

D's Firetruck Tent

D wanted G to play in his tent the other day.  G pretty much just wants to crawl in and out over and over again, but D was happy that he wanted in there at all.  D really wants G to play in the tent in his room, but I am not ready for that yet. I am not sure what might happen if I wasn't watching.  They had fun and laughed a lot.  It is so neat to watch them when they are actually playing together.

Snow ice cream

I am pretty sure that eating snow ice cream is kind of like drinking out of the water hose, every child should get to have it at least once.  I am sure that there are poeple out there who think it is not safe to eat the snow just like there are people who say not to drink out of the hose, but I don't think there is anything wrong with either thing.  Anyway, D thought it was the best thing ever.  He still asks if he can have some more.  I had never made it before and it wasn't as sweet as I remember my grandma's but it was still pretty good.  What better way to end a day playing in the snow.

I did let G let it but he didn't really like it.

I wanted a cute picture

I got these.

The Day After

These are the pictures that I took of us playing in the snow the next day.  D loved it and has already asked when we would get to do that again.  I told him probably not for another 10 years.  Poor kid, he thinks it should snow like that everyday now.

D could walk across the drifs without sinking.  This dad and I were not that lucky.

Daddy hiding in his cave and having a snowball fight with D.

G didn't really know what he thought of all this.  It is really bright when the sun is reflecting off the snow.  He wouldn't really open his eyes.

I never gotten to make a real snowman befroe and this time we made two.

 This one even had lipstick.

Blizzard

So last week we had a blizzard.  I mean a real blizzard.  It was crazy.  There were times during the day we could not even see the post office, which is across the street.  It was nuts.  I have never seen it snow like that and with the wind it was way worse.  They closed down most of the highways because the drifts that developed were so high.  We had one in our backyard that was about 2 1/2 feet deep.   The next day it was really fun to play in though so I guess it was worth it for the fun it provided and mostly for the moisture we got from it.

We didn't much build up in the front yard because of the wind but the back yard was pretty much covered because it had things to build up against.

On the south side of our house

This little tree is taller than I am well over half of it was cover in a drift.

That cross bar on the swing set is at about my hip level.
If you look really close you can see the outline of our garden box.  It was totally covered by the end of the day.
D sand box somehow ended up between the two big drifts in the yard.
I think this is actually from the next day.  You can tell that it got a little bit deeper.  It was really pretty once the wind stopped.
