Happy Halloween

Things around here have been crazy for the last month or so.  I can't count how many times I have taken the boys to the doctor.  It has been nuts.  We have been really lucky because our kids haven't been sick a whole lot.  I knew that would change when D started school and was around other kids more so I was kind of prepared.  I am sure it hasn't helped that I have been just as sick as they have been.  We finally found out ,by doing x-rays, that they both have sinus infections so maybe we will finally get rid of this mess.  Anyway there are lots of things I have to put up on this little blog of mine, including our summer vacation, hopefully I start getting caught up. 

 

For now here are some pictures from our Halloween activities.  We went to the Fort Worth Zoo for Boo at the Zoo and then went to my sisters church for trunk or treat. 

 

The zoo was really busy and you can tell we were all really excited to be there.  It cleared out after a little bit and we had a lot more fun.   

 They had games set up for the kids to play and they really enjoyed that part.

I do have pictures that I took on Halloween that I will try to get up soon. D did a little program at his school that I have a video of so I will try to do that also.  That is my goal anyway.  We will see if it actually happens.

Chicks

Our chicks are doing great.  They are still growing and running around like crazy.  It is amazing to me how fast they grow.  At this point I think we have one rooster and two hens.  I am not a chicken expert so I am probably wrong.  I only think that because one has tail feathers and the other two do not.  I am sure that what will happen is the one with tail feathers will end up the being only hen and the other two will be roosters.

They are 5 days old in these and you can see they are already getting their real feathers instead of fluff.

I took these pictures on Sunday so they are 9 days old in these.  It is crazy how fast they change.

 

 You can't see it very well but the one on the right is the one with tail feathers.  It also seems to be a little bigger than the other two.

Our youngest child is at that stage where he is just precious.  He is happy most of the time and really just goes with the flow.  He has started trying to talk more but only at home. He is still not real comfortable in large groups of people at first but will eventually warm up to them.  He loves his daddy so much and is defiantly a daddy's boy.  He is just a joy to have around.

Today was exciting

Our baby chicks hatched!!!!!

It was pretty neat to watch.  I even got it on video.

This video is just so you can hear the little sounds coming from the egg.

This one is of him actually hatching.  I have never watched it before and I was really glad that D came in right before the chick got all the way out.   This one is kind of long but I was fascinated.

We had to go run some errands today and when we come home there were 2 chicks.  We still have one egg left and it is starting to crack so we should have 3 chicks in the morning.  I am so happy they all hatched. 

 



Bathtub fun

Earlier this summer I was trying to think of things we could do in the house while it was super hot outside.  One of the things I came across was shaving cream painting. I also saw something called exploding paint so I kind of put the two ideas together.  I  mixed baking soda, shaving cream, and Kool-Aid powder together and let D paint with it in the bathtub.  I also gave him a spray bottle with vinegar in it so he could spray the mixture and watch it bubble.  I should have used more baking soda to get a bigger reaction but it still worked and he had a good time.  A plus of using the Kool-Aid was it made the bathroom smell great.

This post may have a few typos because I am typing one handed but I am giving it a shot.  I sent my oldest child to Mother's Day Out today.  It was not as hard as I expected it to be.  I guess I will find out when I pick him up if he did okay and if he wants to go back.  I was worried that I would fall apart but I really did okay.  When I was thinking about sending him I was going to have a special treat for him to come home to but then I had surgery and baking is not going to happen.  I know he will never know the difference but I wanted to do something for him.  He is growing so fast. I wish I could keep him home forever. 

 

I did make him some colorful pancakes for breakfast.

 We left G inside and he is ringing the doorbell to make G laugh.

 This is actually walking into school.

I didn't get any great pictures but they will work for me.  I hope he had a great day and I hope he loves it.
