New Family Members

We have some new family members at our house.

This is Oakley!! He is our new puppy.  I say new, we have had him since January.  He is so good with the boys and they love him.  He is a great addition to our group.

These are our new baby chicks. They are called Barred Rocks and will be black with white strips when they get bigger.  They look totally different than they did when I took these pictures last week.  It is still amazing to me how fast chicks grow.

Pretty soon we may have more eggs than we know what to do with.

D

Since I put up a post about G's birthday I am going to put up D's also.  He turned 5 in January.  He thinks he is a full grown adult. I know people talk about their kids getting senior-itis before they go to college so it is easier to let them go, I think the same thing exist for 5 year olds.  They change into something else so that you want to send them to kindergarten.  He can be so sweet and such a mess in the same minute.  I  love the way his brain works.  It is fascinating to listen to him talk things through.  He is still wants to know not just what thing are but also how they work.  The other day he told me he hurt the thumb on his foot (big toe).  He wants to know everything about everything.  Right now he spends most of his time either building with legos or playing skylanders.  He is growing into a boy so fast.  Most days I am not sure I am ready.  He requested a chocolate cake with strawberry frosting so that is what he got.

My baby is getting big!!!

This goofy kid just turned 2.  I can't believe it.  He is our shy, laid back (most of the time) kid.  He is still not the first to talk to anybody but now he will usually say something back.  At his doctors appointment he weighed 27.2 pounds and is 35 3/4 inches.  I am hoping that in a couple of months I can really start working on him using the potty.  He is a little interested right now but only a little. I am sure that I will be trying again at this time next year but we will see.  He loves his brother and copies everything he does.  He is also an animal lover, whether it is the dog or the chickens he wants to know what they are doing all the time.  Right now my one of my favorite things he does is say "Tank You Mama" even when I haven't done anything.  He also walks around singing a lot.  It is pretty cute.   I can't wait to see what he grows into.

I am so bad

The children that live in my house have been sick for what feels like the entire year so far.  I think I have like 3 pictures at this point for all of 2014.  I also had a whole list of things I was going to blog about to finish last year and it just never happened.  I am trying to decide if I am going to go back and do it just so it is recorded or not.  Some many things to think about and they are so important, you know?  I think for today I am going to put up some pictures I took on Halloween.  Yes that was forever ago and both of my boys have grown what seems like 6 inches since then but oh well.  I need to put them on here just for prosperity.

I always try to take the boys pictures in the cotton in the fall.  I just think I should do that since our life kind of revolves around it.  G reacted much the same way that D did when he was younger.  G was pretty much disgusted and had no idea why I would take him out there but D was happy to run up and down the rows as far as I would let him go.  I don't know if G didn't like the cotton or the fact that there was a windmill in the field we stopped in that was squeaking.  He kept looking at it so it could have been that.
You can tell from the picture that G is supper happy to be there.

It is so hard to get a picture of the two of them together.

Under the Tree

I think it is fun to take pictures under the Christmas tree.  It is always a challenge with my kids but I just have to have them.  G likes to touch the tree and the ornaments but when I tried to sit him close to it he had a melt down.  I have no idea why.  I put him in the rocking chair and he was fine.  You never know what kind of pictures you are going to get from these kids.
