Week 2

Here are the pictures of week 2 with Thomas the elf.  I have discovered that D likes the elf a lot more when he does something funny instead of making a mess.  He seems to be a little more excited about it the last couple of days but I don't know if it will last.

 Taking some money
D really didn't like this one.  He was upset about the mess.
Thomas left a message on the mirror.  You can't really see it, but it says, "I am watching you.  I hope you have a great day."
 Marshmallow bath with friends
 Doing a little fishing
This has been D's favorite so far.
 Stuck in a glass
 Watching some TV
Just in case someone who reads this thinks I am really smart for coming up with all of these, I didn't.  Pinterest is a wonderful place to get Ell on the Shelf ideas.

We had a very light snow last night

We had a very light dusting of snow last night and D was very excited about it.  He wanted to play in it all morning even though it was barely enough to cover the grass.  He probably would have stayed out all day if I would have been willing to let him.  It was really cold although it affected me a lot more than it affected him. I think he really just wanted to eat the snow.

We always include construction site vehicles anytime we play.

The White Stuff

The other day I was looking around in the black hole of the internet, pinterest, and I found something that I knew D would love and I was right.  I only call it the black hole because I could lose hours of my day looking at everything on there.  I do love it though.  This mixture is just corn starch and shaving cream that ends up looking kind of like snow.  You just mix enough shaving cream into the corn starch to make it stick together so you can build things out of it.  You end made with a mixture that is really soft and fun to play with.  It also makes mama's hands soft.

We had to put our construction site vehicles in it.  You can put just about anything in it because it just washes off with water.

PIctures in front of the tree

I wanted to take some pictures of the boys in front of the tree.  This is what I got.  If I knew how to use photo shop, I would have gotten at least one really good picture.  I like the ones where they are looking at each other though.

Elf: Week 1

My mom got us an elf on the shelf to play with this year.  I was really excited about it and thought D would think it was fun.  He plays along with me but doesn't seem that into it.  I don't know if he is not old enough or if he just doesn't really care anything about it.  I am still doing it every night and I am enjoying it anyway.  I am glad that he is playing along.  The first thing that you are supposed to do is name your elf and he had a hard time with that.  He wanted to name him "Drew Slade" and it was really hard to convince him not to use that name.  We finally settled on "Thomas."  I know that part of it is just his personality, but I wish he would enjoy it more.  I will just be happy with what I get.  We are having a little bit of fun with it.

The first morning Thomas was here he made a special breakfast for D.

 Playing in the loader

 Drinking syrup in the pantry

D doesn't really like it when "Thomas" makes a mess.  He just walks in, shakes his head, and then starts to clean it up.  It is pretty funny because he never feels the need to pick up messes that he has made.
 Making paper snowflakes
 Caught in the toilet paper
 Playing in Zolo's food
 Leaving D a friendly reminder

I forgot to move him one day but since D is just playing along it was no big deal.
