I have a friend that made an advent calendar for her boys last year. I wanted to do one for D and she inspired me to actually get it done. Thanks Heather. D and I have been doing it everyday and he is as excited about this as he is about the elf. He pretty much just plays along with me on this also. I made it out of socks. The one that I saw on pinterest was made out of baby socks but I couldn't find that many baby socks. I got most of my socks from the dollar section at Target and the dollar store. I just got whatever sizes they had. I thin it turned out okay. The socks didn't end up in the order I have envisioned because I sewed them on the ribbon wrong and I was too lazy to take them off and start over. It serves the purpose and looks cute hanging on my wall. I didn't take a picture of it after I put all of the activity cards in it. I should try to do that just so I remember what it looks like for next year. I just wrote them on paper and put a little piece of ribbon on the back to pull them out of the sock. I will try to take a picture of it soon.
The first day we read the story of Jesus' birth in the bible and the second day we wrote a letter to Santa. He also "helped" me wrap presents one day. I didn't take pictures of those things.
Doing Christmas craft. He doesn't really care to follow the directions and if he does follow the directions he goes and takes it apart later. I guess it doesn't matter as long as he has fun but it is a little hard on my OCD.
Making popcorn. This kid loves popcorn. It might have something to do with Grumpy.
Making bead candy canes. He really just wanted to play with the beads.
Having a picnic by the Christmas tree
G was just excited to get this close to the tree.
Having hot chocolate. He got to add the marshmallows himself. He left all of them in the cup after the cocoa was gone.
I don't know why he is making this goofy face.

All the pictures are so good. The narratives bring them to life. Hugs to all, Grandma
SOOOO cute - I love the sock calendar! So glad to see that Drew is enjoying the activities! Good for you for starting the tradition while they're still so small - they'll always remember it as being part of Christmas! I love reading about your sweet little family! I tend to be partial to boys! :)
